The Horley Lions display is Saturday 17 October, three weeks before Bonfire Night. Gates 5.30pm, bonfire 7pm, fireworks 7.30pm, £6 adults, none on the gate.
The borough’s fireworks display is on Saturday 17 October 2026, three weeks before Bonfire Night. That is not a typo. The Horley Lions Charity Bonfire and Firework Display has moved much earlier this year, and the club has explained why in its own words.
Bonfire Night itself falls on Thursday 5 November 2026, and Remembrance Sunday on 8 November. Asked on its booking page why the event is so early, Horley Lions answers: “We have to hold the event on this date as we did not want to clash with School holidays, Halloween and Remembrance Sunday.”
Times, venue and prices
Everything below is from Horley Lions’ own fireworks page and its Eventbrite listing, both checked on 5 September 2026.
- Venue: Horley Recreation Ground, Brighton Road, Horley RH6 8SS.
- Gates open 5.30pm.
- Bonfire lit 7.00pm.
- Fireworks start 7.30pm.
- The Eventbrite listing puts the end of the event at 9.00pm.

Eventbrite adds a small booking fee on top, which the Lions flag themselves. The highest single price showing on the listing on 5 September was £17.55, the family ticket with its fee. All distances were still showing as available.
The rule that catches people out every year
There are no tickets on the gate. The Lions put it plainly: “Entry will only be allowed with tickets purchased in advance.” You can show a printed ticket or have the barcode scanned off your phone, but if you turn up without one you are not getting in.
The other rules, all from the club:
- No parking at the ground for the duration of the event. A limited number of blue badge spaces exist, and once they are full the Lions say they have to turn people away. On Eventbrite the club explains why the space is so tight: the spaces are taken by Surrey Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance.
- No dogs or pets, except service dogs.
- No food or drink brought in. The Lions run a barbecue bar with burgers, hot dogs, bacon and egg rolls and hot drinks.
- No sparklers or fireworks of your own. The club’s reason is specific: they are hard to clear off the grass afterwards and can hurt the dogs that use the ground the rest of the year.
- All children under 16 must be with a responsible adult.
- No refunds unless the club cancels. The display runs whatever the weather unless the firework company advises otherwise, usually for high winds.
Getting in and out
Two gates operate, and they do not behave the same way. The gate at Vicarage Lane and Charlesfield Road closes at 7pm, before the bonfire is lit, and the Lions ask everyone to leave by the main gate at the end so the crowd moves away from the fire. Toilets are on the ground.
Horley Recreation Ground is a short walk from Horley station and from the town centre, which is the practical answer to the parking problem.
Is there a Reigate or Redhill display?
Not this year, and not for the last two. Nothing in Reigate, Redhill, Banstead or Tadworth appears on the borough council’s own events list, and Visit Surrey’s 2026 bonfire and firework roundup names nine Surrey displays without one inside this borough.
Reigate’s free display was part of Reigate on Ice at Priory Park. The council announced in October 2024 that “a free Fireworks Display on Saturday 30 November will kick start the Reigate on Ice festivities and coincide with the Christmas light switch on event”. The rink did not return in 2025, and on 5 September 2026 the reigateonice.com domain no longer resolves at all, which is about as clear a signal as a dead event gives.
The nearest alternatives outside the borough, both on Saturday 7 November 2026, are Brockham Bonfire on the village green in Mole Valley and the Epsom Fireworks and Funfair at Hook Road Arena.

- Saturday 17 October 2026, Horley Recreation Ground RH6 8SS. Gates 5.30pm, bonfire 7pm, fireworks 7.30pm.
- Buy online first. There is nothing on the gate.
- Do not drive to the ground. There is no parking, and the blue badge bays fill.
- The Vicarage Lane and Charlesfield Road gate shuts at 7pm, so arrive through it early or use the main gate.
- If you want a display on Bonfire Night weekend itself, you are leaving the borough.
