Canakin makes everything on site, Handley's takes no bookings: 11 cafes in Reigate, Redhill and Banstead with hours and hygiene ratings, checked October 2026.

Most people looking for a coffee in Reigate end up at one of four. Canakin on the High Street is the independent patisserie. Handley’s and Urban Kitchen are a few doors apart on Church Street, serving breakfast and lunch. The Priory Park cafe sits in the glass pavilion by the lake. Every entry was checked against the cafe’s own website or social page on 26 October 2026.

We have not visited these cafes for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry sets out what the cafe says about itself and what it publishes about hours, food and booking. It then adds the public record: the Food Standards Agency (FSA) hygiene rating, and, for the park cafes, what the council says about the building and the park. Where a cafe does not publish its hours, we say so rather than guess.

Reigate town centre

1. Canakin, High Street

Canakin describes itself as “bringing speciality coffee & patisserie to Reigate”, independently owned, with “all products made daily on site”. Its Instagram shows the patisserie side: madeleines, crème brûlée and croissants that, it says, take three days but only four ingredients.

Since October it has run an afternoon tea every Sunday. Its website does not publish opening hours, so check with the shop (shop@canakin.co.uk).

Its menu page runs from breakfast and sweet treats to lunch and dinner. It turned three this year, and over October half term its Pancake Club serves pancakes all day, including a cinnamon baklava stack.

A second cafe, Little Nisou, opened for a soft launch on 22 October, its Instagram says. The FSA register places it at 5 Prices Lane, Woodhatch.

Park cafes

6. Priory Park cafe, Bell Street

The council’s park page asks for dogs to be kept on a lead in the cafe area. The playground nearby closes on Tuesday mornings for maintenance.

On Instagram the cafe says buttermilk pancakes are coming onto the menu.

Open Mon to Sat 8am to 5pm; Sun 10am to 4pm (hours the council gave at the 2024 reopening)

It listed sandwiches, sourdough toasties, salads, pastries, cakes, ice cream and smoothies, vegetarian and vegan options, coffee from locally roasted beans and dog treats. Its Instagram this month adds porridge and granola bowls to take away and plenty about its hot chocolate.

Florrie’s posts updates on Instagram rather than a website.

Before that comes its usual Christmas run of mulled wine, homemade mince pies, bratwurst and goulash soup, with some late evenings depending on the weather.

It also has a reading nook stocked with aviation books, and there is a bar. The aerodrome is just over the boundary in Tandridge, so the hygiene rating comes from Tandridge’s register.

How we chose

This is a list of the cafes people search for, chosen on records anyone can check, not on taste. We started with the town-centre independents that have their own websites or active social pages. We added the three park cafes the councils let to local operators, and a few well-used cafes in Redhill, Banstead and Tadworth. GAIL’s is the only chain, because it is one of the main places to sit down with a coffee on Reigate High Street.

We left out anything with a food hygiene rating below 3. That rules out, for now, Bru & Bear on Bell Street, rated 1 in September 2026. We also left out cafes we could not check against a working website or social page of their own, including some well-known Bell Street names. If one of those is yours, send us the link.

We checked every cafe’s own site or social page on 26 October 2026 for hours, food and any closure notice, and took hygiene ratings from the FSA register the same day. Hours change, so check with the cafe before you go.
