Bell Street and Cockshot Hill close at 8am on Sunday 20 September, and Reigate Road in Horley stays shut to 11.30am. Sector times, crossing points, car parks.

Run Reigate is on Sunday 20 September 2026, and the road closures reach a lot further than the town centre. The half marathon route runs south from Priory Park all the way to Horley, so Reigate Road, Meath Green and Westvale Park are shut for the morning as well as Bell Street and Cockshot Hill.

If you are not running, this is the page you need. Every time below comes from the organiser’s own road closure map, published by Run Series, which carries the line “all closure times are subject to change” in its own key.

The closure times, sector by sector

The route is split into six sectors, each with its own reopening time. The earliest shut is 8am and the last does not reopen until 1.30pm.

Sector Closed Where
Sector 1 08:00 to 10:00 Bell Street and Cockshot Hill, Reigate down to Woodhatch
Sector 2 08:15 to 11:30 Reigate Road, Horley, past Meath Green and Westvale Park
Sector 3 08:15 to 12:15 Ironsbottom and Horse Hill
Sector 4 08:15 to 12:30 Dovers Green Road, south through Sidlow
Sector 5 08:00 to 13:00 Sandcross Lane, Whitehall Lane, Clayhall Lane and Slipshatch Road
Sector 6 08:15 to 13:30 Park Lane and the Priory Park approach

Sector 1 is the short one. If you only need to cross Bell Street, you are clear by 10am. Sector 6, the Park Lane end, is the last to reopen because the event village runs on in the park until 2pm.

Vehicle crossing points: how residents get out

The organisers have set four marshalled crossing points, and each one has its own window and its own escape route.

  • Crossing point 1, Bell Street and Cockshot Hill: 08:00 to 08:45, then 09:45 to 10:00. Residents either side of Bell Street and Cockshot Hill, including Park Lane East and Prices Lane, keep access in and out.
  • Crossing point 2, Westvale Park: 08:00 to 11:30. Residents get in and out by marshals onto Meath Green Lane, using the Webber Street bus lane exit.
  • Crossing point 3: 08:15 to 09:30. Residents in Horse Hill and Ironsbottom get in and out via Deanoak Lane, Collendean Lane and the A217 south at Hookwood.
  • Crossing point 4, Sandcross Lane: 08:00 to 08:45. Residents in the Sandcross Lane and Slipshatch area get out onto Meadow Way or Prices Lane.

One thing worth checking before Sunday. Two of those escape routes point at Prices Lane, and Prices Lane has been shut since Wednesday 19 August between Sandcross Lane and Kingsley Grove for Thames Water main installation work. Surrey County Council’s temporary bus changes page says that closure is in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week and was expected to last about a month. Metrobus 424 and 430/435 are diverting via Dovers Green Road and Sandcross Lane, both of which are themselves inside the race closures on the day.

Update, 10 September. The dated permit now gives an end. Surrey’s roadworks register lists the Thames Water job on Prices Lane, and the matching one on Kingsley Grove, as running from 19 August to 17 September 2026. That is three days before the race, so on the permit dates Prices Lane should be open again in time. Treat that as the plan rather than a promise: utility works overrun, and the bus changes page still carried the original “approximately 1 month” wording when we checked on 10 September. Check the register again in the last few days before Sunday.

Car parks, and the £5 donation

Run Series has borrowed car parks from local businesses. All are within a fifteen minute walk of the event village, and there is a suggested £5 donation that goes to the event charities.

Car park Postcode Note

RSM Orchard RH2 7AB
Woodhatch Place RH2 8EF Inside the closures. Access 07:00 to 08:00, then 10:00 to 15:00

Woodhatch Place is the trap. The organisers flag it themselves: that car park sits within the road closures, so if you arrive at 8.30am you will not get in, and if you park there at 7.30am you are not driving out again until 10am.

Getting there without a car

Reigate station is a ten minute walk from the start. The organisers warn on their own event page that rail replacements are running on event day, so check your route before you set off rather than on the platform. There is a bike park in the event village, but you bring your own lock.

Race times

  • 10K: 9.00am
  • Half marathon: 9.15am
  • 5K: 9.20am
  • Kids race: from 12.00pm, staggered by school year. Years 9 to 11 at 12.00, Years 7 and 8 at 12.05, Year 6 at 12.10, Year 5 at 12.20, Year 4 at 12.30, Year 3 at 12.40, Year 2 at 12.50, Year 1 and Reception at 1.00pm.

The event village opens at 7.30am and closes at 2pm. There is no time limit on any race, but the organisers say marshals stand down three hours after the half marathon start, which is about 12.15pm, after which normal rules of the road apply and runners are on the pavement. Anyone still out after midday is offered a lift back to Priory Park.

Can you still enter?

Yes, on 5 September. The RunThrough entry page listed all distances as open at £33 for the 5K, £41 for the 10K, £44 for the half marathon and £17 for a kids race place, with a £80 RunThrough Foundation place also available. The kids race sells out most years, so it is the one to book first.

Minimum ages are set by UK Athletics rules: 17 and over for the half marathon, 15 and over for the 10K, 11 and over for the 5K.

Race numbers are collection only, from Simply Sports at 28 High Street, Reigate RH2 9AY, between 9 and 18 September, or from the info point in Priory Park on Saturday 19 September between 10am and 2pm, or from 7.30am on race morning. Sign up before midnight on Sunday 13 September and your pack is ready from Wednesday 15 September.

Dogs are not allowed except guide dogs. Pushchairs need clearing with the organisers first, because it is an England Athletics licensed event. Water on route comes from SES Water in paper cups, and there are no bottled water handouts, so bring a bottle if you prefer one.

Where to watch

The organisers name three cheer points away from the park: The Beehive pub at Woodhatch, the Westvale roundabout and Sandcross School. The start and finish gantry in Priory Park is the obvious one, and the event village is there all morning.

What it means for you

  • Sunday 20 September 2026. Bell Street and Cockshot Hill shut 8am to 10am; Park Lane until 1.30pm.
  • If you live in Horley off Reigate Road, Meath Green Lane or Westvale Park, plan around 8.15am to 11.30am.
  • Do not park at Woodhatch Place unless you can arrive before 8am and stay past 10am.
  • Prices Lane’s Thames Water permit ends 17 September, three days before the race. Check it has actually reopened before you rely on it as your way out.
  • Rail replacement buses are running that day, so the train is not a safe default either.
