Horley's Christmas lights go on at 5pm on Thursday 10 December, and the Christmas Fair fills the High Street on Saturday 12 December, 10am to 4.30pm.

Horley’s Christmas lights go on at 5pm on Thursday 10 December 2026, and two days later, on Saturday 12 December, the Christmas Fair takes over the High Street from 10am to 4.30pm. Both are run by HATS, the Horley Association of Town Supporters, and both were posted on Horley Town Council’s events pages on 30 October.

Horley is always the last town in the borough to switch on. Redhill’s Belfry goes on 21 November, Tadworth on 25 November and Reigate at its Christmas Fayre on 28 November, so Horley’s evening comes a fortnight after the rest.

The quick answer

  • Lights switch-on: Thursday 10 December 2026, 5pm, Horley town centre.
  • Christmas Fair: Saturday 12 December 2026, 10am to 4.30pm, along Horley High Street, with market stalls and festive activities.
  • Free to attend. Neither listing mentions tickets or an entry charge.

  • The weekend before: Horley Methodist Church’s Christmas Tree Festival, Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December.

The lights: Thursday 10 December, 5pm

Horley Town Council’s listing gives the date and time: “On Thursday 10th of December at 5pm HAT’s will be getting festive with the Christmas lights switch on.” HATS says its team “has been working hard behind the scenes to make sure all the lights are in perfect working order for the season” and invites everyone to “come and enjoy. So join us and we can light up the town together” (Horley Town Council).

That is all that has been published so far. There is no running order, no named guest and no finish time yet. We will add them here when HATS releases them.

The Christmas Fair: Saturday 12 December

The fair listing is HATS’ “official save the date”: the fair “will be taking place on Saturday 12th December between 10am and 4:30pm down the High Street in Horley town”. The organisers promise “all our usual festive activities” and “the street lined with lots of market stalls for you to browse” (Horley Town Council).

The stall list, any grotto and the stage line-up have not been published.

The week before: the tree festival

Horley Methodist Church on Victoria Road holds its Christmas Tree Festival the weekend before, with about 60 trees decorated by local groups and businesses and an “enchanted forest” through to the cafe. Entry is free, with collection buckets for the Alzheimer’s Society.

  • Friday 4 December, 10am to 7pm: Langshott Primary School Choir at 10am, Meath Green Junior School Choir at 11am, Yattendon Primary School Choir at 2pm; Father Christmas 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm (listing).
  • Saturday 5 December, 10am to 7pm: Star Steppers at 2pm, Rewind Windband and A2Z Flute Choir at 4pm; Father Christmas at the same times (listing).
  • Sunday 6 December, noon to 5pm: harpist Margaret Watson at 2pm and 4pm, Horley Singers at 3pm, then a Community Carol Service among the trees at 5pm with Horley Infant School Choir (listing).

Parking and getting there

Horley has three council car parks near the High Street: The High Street (RH6 7BN, 86 spaces), Central (RH6 7AU, 163 spaces) and Victoria Road. Reigate and Banstead Borough Council’s Horley car parks page says charges apply from 8am to 6pm, the first hour is free if you display a ticket from the machine, and two hours costs £2.10 at The High Street and Central (£2.20 at Victoria Road). For a 5pm switch-on, an hour’s free ticket takes you past the 6pm end of charging.

The High Street car park has had a works compound in it during Surrey County Council’s High Street repaving. The county’s Horley town centre page, last updated on 8 October, says the final phase, between Consort Way East and Yattendon Road, runs “until early November”, and that short closures of the car park to finish the paving around its entrance and remove the compound “will be advertised in advance”. Our roadworks and travel page tracks the closures, and parking in Reigate covers every council car park in the borough.

Horley station is a short walk from the High Street.
