Gatton Park opens on the first Sunday of each month, 12 to 5pm, £7 online. Halloween is 25 October; Christmas wreath workshops run 28 November and 5 December.

Gatton Park, the Capability Brown parkland on the edge of Reigate, is only open to the public on set days: the first Sunday of each month from February to December, 12 noon to 5pm, at £7 for adults booked online and free for children. This winter it adds a Halloween afternoon on 25 October and Christmas craft workshops in late November and early December. Outside those days the park is closed, although the National Trust’s walk across its part of the estate is open all year.

The quick answer

  • Open days: first Sunday of the month, 12 to 5pm. The next are 4 October (apples and tractor rides) and 1 November. Adults £7 online or £9 on the day; children free.
  • Halloween Witches and Wizards: Sunday 25 October, 12 to 4pm. £8 adults and £3 children online.
  • Christmas wreath workshops: Saturdays 28 November and 5 December, £40. The December open day on 6 December has not been announced yet.

When Gatton Park is open

Gatton Park is a private estate owned by the Royal Alexandra and Albert School and run for visitors by the Gatton Trust, a charity. Its opening times page says:

  • Open days are on the first Sunday of the month from February to December, 12 to 5pm, and Gatton Hall sells refreshments.
  • Adults pay £7 booked online or £9 on the door; children are free, though some special events are charged.
  • Dogs on leads are welcome. The Gardeners’ World 2-for-1 card is accepted.
  • The home page is clear that the park is not open outside paid open days and organised activities.
  • The National Trust owns part of the Gatton estate, and its Gatton Park in our Past and Present walk is open all year round.

Apple Open Day takes place in the orchard in the walled garden, with apple juicing, children’s trails and tractor rides around the Pleasure Garden. The Japanese garden is open too.

Halloween Witches and Wizards falls on the middle Sunday of Surrey’s two-week half term. It is a spooky trail and themed activities in Gatton Hall, pitched at younger children. Our October half term page has the rest of that fortnight’s local listings.

The November open day is billed as the autumn colours day: all 250 acres of parkland and the Edwardian gardens are open, with a marked 3km trail and a wooden medal for children to colour in at the end.

The Christmas workshops use willow and foliage gathered on the estate, cedar, holly and ivy. The wreath sessions include a mince pie and a glass of wine; the angel session is suitable for beginners and includes mulled wine and a mince pie. All three need booking online.

The December open day

The first Sunday in December 2026 is 6 December, and Gatton has not yet listed what it will be. The most recent December open day we can find on the Trust’s own site is the 2024 one, a Christmas trail on Sunday 1 December, 11am to 3pm, with Christmas clues around the park, stick whittling and marshmallows over a campfire in Cedar Wood, and a craft in the Cabin. That year it cost £6 for adults and £3 for children online. We will add the 2026 plans when the Trust publishes them.

Booking and getting there

Booking is essential for most events, except where the listing says otherwise. The Trust’s booking queries line is 01737 649068 and the email is events@gatton-park.org.uk. On 24 September the Gatton home page carried a notice that its online booking system was undergoing maintenance, so if a booking link fails, phone or email instead.

The postcode for the park is RH2 0TW. For roadworks on the routes up to Reigate Hill and Gatton, see our roadworks and travel page, and for town centre car parks if you are combining a visit with Reigate, parking in Reigate.

Still to be confirmed

  • The 6 December open day, its theme and prices.
  • Any children’s Christmas crafts before Christmas. In earlier years Gatton has run Christmas crafts sessions for young children; none are listed for 2026 yet.
  • 2027 dates. Open days stop after December and restart on the first Sunday in February.
