Reigate & Banstead food hygiene ratings, July 2026: 14 top scores, with two restaurants rated 'good'

Food safety inspectors rated 16 businesses across Reigate & Banstead in July, and none scored below “good”. 14 premises took the top mark of 5, “very good”, under the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, while two restaurants were rated 4. (Food Standards Agency, food hygiene ratings register)

The figures come from the FSA’s public register, which records every rating issued in the borough. Ratings dated July 2026 were retrieved on 6 August; the council adds results as inspections are processed, so a few late July visits may still appear.

The two rated 4

Parkside, the restaurant at 71 Bell Street in Reigate, was inspected on 14 July and rated 4, “good”. The register breaks the score into three parts: hygienic food handling and the condition of the facilities were both judged good, while management of food safety was judged generally satisfactory. Firehouse Tadworth at the Blue Ball, the restaurant at the Blue Ball pub on Deans Lane in Walton on the Hill, was rated 4 on 28 July; the register entry does not yet show the component scores behind it. A 4 is the second-highest of the scheme’s six ratings. Businesses that disagree with a score have a right of appeal, a published right to reply, and can ask for a revisit once any changes are made; the FSA explains how that works.

Fourteen fives, from Priory Park to Gatwick’s doorstep

In Reigate itself, the Priory Cafe in the Priory Park pavilion, Pizza Hut Delivery on Bell Street and Simonas on the High Street were all rated 5 on 8 July, with The Black Horse on West Street following on 30 July and Dungate Manor Care Home on Reigate Heath on 17 July.

In Redhill, The Coffee Cup at The Belfry shopping centre opened the month with a 5 on 3 July, and two more followed on 28 July: the BaxterStorey staff kitchen at AXA’s Station Road offices and the Merstham Village Shop on School Hill.

Elsewhere, Youngs Kitchen in Chipstead, Harrison Catering at Tadworth Court, The Carafe at Bettameats on Banstead High Street, and in Horley both Planet Sweet on Victoria Road and the Gatwick Cambridge Hotel on Bonehurst Road all took top marks.

What it means for you

The hygiene rating is a snapshot of what an inspector found on the day: how food is handled, the state of the building, and how food safety is managed. A 5 means all three were up to standard; a 4 means standards were good overall with something to tighten up.
